Access to Palliative Care Drugs

A number of pharmacies (see below) across West Kent have been commissioned to keep a range of palliative care drugs in stock, ensuring faster access to this essential specialist medication.

If this specialist medication is required when all the pharmacies below are closed then the “on call” GP service should be contacted, as they are able to contact a pharmacist providing this service “out of hours”.

This latest agreement forms part of the overall end-of-life package of care that NHS West Kent is offering patients. It should ensure confidence and satisfaction with regards to access to controlled drugs and will mean that those who need them can get the necessary drugs quickly and easily.
